Valerie has experience in working with adolescents, teenagers, and adults for over 12 years. She endeavors to support others as they gain insight and understanding about themselves and their life experiences. Valerie understands that incorporating various forms of therapy may be necessary to help you reach your therapeutic goals. Valerie also counsels through a trauma-informed perspective, recognizing that what one person experiences as traumatic, another may not.
Life has many trials and obstacles. Sometimes we define who we are by how we feel as we navigate these experiences. Valerie’s goal as your counselor is to provide a safe space of unconditional positive regard along with the appropriate therapeutic approach to help you feel better and gain self-awareness and coping skills on your journey to a sense of well-being and empowerment.
Valerie incorporates these therapeutic modalities: individual therapy, group therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (A.R.T.), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and other forms of bilateral stimulation, Faster EFT (Emotion Focused Transformation), Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT, Tapping), Integrative Nutrition/Herbs/Somatic Exercises, and Animal Assisted Therapy. She may also recommend Floatation Therapy, Roxiva Light Therapy, Guided Imagery, Conscious Language and/or Sleep Hypnosis.
You’ll begin to understand how the therapist is trying to help you help yourself. During this time therapists should try to validate clients’ experiences, truths and struggles. This builds trust and safety.
